2002 installation with slide and video projections color + sound 3'15" (excerpt: 3'00")
One slide projector shows 60 portraits of new suburban houses, another slide projector shows 60 images of rows of houses, both changing with high speed, and a video projection in the middle shows the slow moving interior images of supermarket and garden center. Occasionally you hear the street noise when one or more images fade out to white. Wherever a city is, there are suburbs, which offer the same ideas for living and a standard of happiness. Suburbs was a democratic solution to the urban housing problem, which gave us a freedom to get out of the stiff traditional community, but ironically enough, many of us find ourselves rootless and disconnected there.
